Welcome to my Blog….here is a little bit about me.
Where to start…I’m a 41 year old father of 2. I work as a Project Manager for a global manufacturer of construction, mining and power generation equipment. In the evenings I am a Martial Arts Instructor holding the grade of Black Belt 4th Dan in Kickboxing. This sport has been one of my pillars for the last 15 years.
My job has allowed me to travel the world and scratch the surface of cultures on four continents. This opportunity has opened my eyes in many ways and I strongly believe has helped to shape the way I view the world.
I have suffered with depression and anxiety probably for many years but only got a diagnosis in 2019 after a relationship break-up that hit me hard. I was already in counselling for low self-esteem and confidance at the time and continued with this for six months after the split. I also took anti-depressants for 6 months. I have battled with lost self-esteem and confidence for as long as I can remember. The break-up hit me hard but I decided to take control and make changes to build me up to a level I had never achieved.
In November 2020 I lost my father to cancer after a 12 month battle. 11 days later I started building a website to publish a Blog. I have no idea where this will go but at the very least in might be good therapy for me. So a new leg of my journey begins, feel free to tag along!
What I do…
Project Manager
I have spent 16 years working for a major manufacturer of construction equipment holding a managerial position in global supplier performance management. More recents I have taken a role as a Project Manager to broaden my experience of the organisation.
Mental Health First Aider
I recently qualified as a MHFA as part of a wellbeing initiative in my day job. The two day course ignited a desire to learn more about mental health and Total Wellbeing and inspired me to enrol for a Psychology degree in 2020.
Regional Kickboxing Instructor
I have taught Kickboxing for over 15 years and through my own training have risen to the grade of Black Belt 4th Dan. This is a hobby business but the coaching and mentoring opportunities it brings are a real passion.
